Town of Marlinton Elections
The Town of Marlinton is governed by a Mayor, a Recorder, and five Council members duly elected every four (4) years by the people of the Town.
The election occurs on the second Tuesday of June of the year of the election with elections being held in 2019, 2023, 2027, etc.
Once elected the officials serve a four year term starting July 1 of the year of the election and terminate June 30 four years hence.
The Mayor, Recorder and Council members must be residents of the Town of Marlinton and must be qualified voters entitled to vote for members of its governing body.
Any person who qualifies to vote in any West Virginia state election and has been a continuous resident of the Town of Marlinton since registered in the records of Pocahontas County is eligible to vote in the public election.
Any persons desiring to run for any office may submit their names to the town Recorder no sooner than the second Monday in January and no later the 4:00 P.M. on the first Monday following the first Saturday of February of the year of the election.
