Discovery Junction celebrates the junctions of the many trails and paths that connect the forests to the communities of Pocahontas County. This is a space dedicated to play, exploration, music, and enjoyment of the natural world. The site sits next to the Pocahontas County Opera House and includes an outdoor stage. Work is still in progress to create wildlife habitat, a wetland-themed splash pad for children, and a walking tour that connects visitors to their public lands.

This space provides a venue for place-based education for local school children and visitors alike to interact with their environment. From an animal tracks mystery for children to unravel to soon to come interpretive signage the site offers many ways for students to learn. In addition, the upcoming walking tour and signage will directly tie the Town to a state trail that accesses two different Forest Service trail systems allowing ample outdoor opportunities for hikers, mountain bikers, and paddlers. This park forms the foundation of a recreation- based economy for this rural community.
