Situated at the intersection US Highway 219 and Rt 39 in beautiful Pocahontas County WV sits the county seat of Marlinton, founded in 1749 and chartered in 1900. Railroad tracks were replaced by biking paths more than 40 years ago and the town now serves as a gateway to the Monongahela National Forest where visitors enjoy hiking, biking, fishing, hunting and general outdoor recreation. Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort is less than 25 miles north and draws outdoor enthusiasts all year, but especially during the ski and snowboard season.
